Elliott R. Haut, MD, PhD Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Baltimore, Maryland Declaration of Interests, see here Dr. Haut is Vice Chair of Quality, Safety, and Service in the Department of Surgery at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is a Professor of Surgery with secondary faculty appointments in the Departments of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine (ACCM) and Emergency Medicine. He also has a faculty appointment in the Department of Health Policy and Management at The Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. He has been the Acute Care Surgery Fellowship at Johns Hopkins for over a decade and was a previous Trauma Medical Director at Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital (a level II trauma center). Dr. Haut has held numerous leadership roles in trauma surgery. He is past-President of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST), chaired the EAST Guidelines Committee, and is past-Chair of Maryland TraumaNet. He was the lead author of a paper commissioned by the National Academies of Medicine titled “Military Trauma Care’s Learning Health System: The Importance of Data-Driven Decision Making” which was used to support the report titled “A National Trauma Care System: Integrating Military and Civilian Trauma Systems to Achieve Zero Preventable Deaths After Injury.” Dr. Haut was a member of the National Quality Forum (NQF) Trauma Outcomes Committee, is on the Board of Directors of the Coalition for National Trauma Research (CNTR), and was appointed to the Maryland Statewide Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council (SEMSAC). He has been active in the peer-review publishing process. Dr. Haut’s editorial experience includes membership on multiple other editorial boards and has ad-hoc peer-reviewed for over 40 journals. He has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed articles, as well as dozens of invited editorials, books, and chapters.
